It's About More than Fashion
A diverse and enjoyable book.

I love their attitude,I want to read it in English!
Great Intro to American Politics TextbookI think what I appreciated the most was the honesty that the text was written. The authors also included a good amount of humor to emphasize the point (in cartoon, comic, Top 10 List, etc), in order to keep a reader interested.
I think this text is also a good reference as well, as there are numerous court cases and explicit examples of gov't at work - that if you are ever at a loss for "what was it that happened?" or "what does that term mean?" Things are extremely easy to find and be referred to.
Good works.

Repeats itself
A Wonderful Account of the Sons of Erin in the Civil War

Nerve Test for Strategists

YeeeHawThe only reservation I had was in the originality of the plot itself. The story of cows being rebranded has been done before. The best example of a rustler overlaying a portion of a brand over an existing brand to change it completely, is in the Donald Duck story from October 1948 "Sheriff of Bullet Valley". That is one of the most famous stories ever written and illustrated by the great Carl Barks, and it has been reprinted a few times over the years.
It is still a fun book, and well worth the very affordable price here at Amazon.com. []
If you have a toddler who's a cowboy, get this book!

A wonderfull look at Monet
A must, for anyone looking to expand an art library!

Students of Czech history: read this book now! Please note that the book is not an encyclopedic account of Czech dissident thought. "From Patocka to Havel" in the title might better be phrased "OF Patocka AND Havel," since the work of other Czech dissidents are mentioned mostly in reference to these two men's theories. However, as theoretical background to a complex issue, this book is well worth reading.
Foundations of Political Theory First Book Honorable MentionIn The Philosophy and Politics of Czech Dissidence from Patocka to Havel, Aviezer Tucker provides a captivating critical narrative of the Charter 77 movement in Czechoslovakia and of the ideas that inspired it. The result is an informative and provocative case study of the intersection of theory and praxis during a pivotal time in Eastern European politics. Patocka was the pre-eminent Czech philosopher during the thirteen year career of the Charter 77 movement, and his philosophy played a central role in its history. His life and fate, as Tucker observes, parallels that of Socrates in Athens; and Havel's role as a philosopher president presented him with the kind of problems Plato confronted in his reforming mission to Syracuse. Tucker illuminates this important chapter in recent history and provides thoughtful critical commentary on the post-Heideggerian and phenomenological ideas that his subjects brought to life.

A Clear, Concise Review of Pathology and Pathophysiology
A must read for Step 1If you have high aspirations, then you must memorize Robbins' pocket companion also. It is so much more thorough than the BRS and retains some element of succinctness. There are no path questions on the boards that you won't be able to get if you memorize this book from cover to cover.
That is the key. Memorize this book and the others mentioned above and you too can pick where you want to do your residency.

Can-do sisters & great illustrationsAs always, Grace Lin's illustrations are a visual treat--from the sisters' azure dresses to the bright red dragon to the textured background of green grasses and light blue sky. Her style is simple, yet rich with Chinese patterning and design.
There is a lot to like in this book with its model of strong can-do girls who use their heads, even in the face of a terrible dragon.
However, any update will invariably be compared to the original story, and here I find the "sisters" story seems a little more diluted and lacking in dramatic tension than its "brother" counterpart. In The Seven Chinese Brothers (by Margaret Mahy) the brothers use their superhuman powers to continuously outwit their would-be executioners. The pleasure in this book comes from being able to predict how each brother will outwit the adversary.
Though the sisters' talents complement each other nicely, the story is not as tightly crafted & the sense of anticipation is not as strong.
That said, both books are well reading to your children, as evidenced by my four-year-old daughter who asked me to read it over and over the first two days we had the book.
Note: If you liked the illustrations in this book, Grace Lin has illustrated several other excellent books for the 4-8 year-old set. Among them are Red is a Dragon, Round is a Mooncake, Dim Sum for Everyone and Kite Flying.
Seven sisters must unite and each use her own special talent
